Woochen - Acrylic on Canvas by Roger Metz

(2026, 24" x 30" x 1.5")

"Woochen" emerges from the psychic automatism practice — pulled from the subconscious before the mind could interfere.

Black and magenta. Shadow and fire. Two sides of the same canvas, the same self expressing in different ways.

Two figures mirror each other across the divide — overlapping without breaking a boundary, each one an expansive wheel of color dreaming a future together, neither one complete without the other. They don't reach across boundaries. They don't need to. They simply exist in their own field, simultaneously, fully themselves, facing their united destiny.

That's the teaching.

This painting arrived before the lesson did. It recorded the spirit of a woman — where she was heading, not yet where she stood. A few years on, she is arriving in Non-judgement love of all aspects.

This painting is about coming into real acceptance of every aspect of one's self. The bright and the dark. The spinning and the stillness. The parts shown and the parts hidden.

The automatism process saw it first.

Nature doesn't judge itself. The night doesn't apologize for not being day. Neither half is the problem. The division is.

Woochen simply holds the space. No rushing. No pushing. Equilibrium that was never in a hurry.
